Power System

Unless you've been under a rock lately, you're aware of the major disruptions in the supply of electric power in California. We're trying our hardest to limit the impact these problems will have on us.

The land Shamrock Trails is situated on makes it ideal for several forms of power generation. Because we needed to provide temporary power immediately, we are starting out with the quickest possible solution: a portable generator. There's more to it than that, though.

The final solution will be a combination of solar, wind, and possibly micro-hydroelectric power. This will be supplemented as needed with a generator. The resulting power that's generated during the day will be stored in a bank of batteries. When it is all assembled together, we hope that it will be understandable. In the meantime, we're using the generator when we need power, turning it off when we don't, and working on the design of the system.

In the meantime if you're interested in reading up on some of the same things we're reading up on, take a look at www.homepower.com. Many other people have done this before us, and we are trying to learn from their experiences.
