Water System

Artesian Well

Because of the layout of the strata beneath our parcel of land, we have encountered something unique when we drilled our well. It turned out to be an artesian well, which forms when the water table a well taps into begins at a point higher in elevation than the head of the well. Our parcel is on an outcropping of land that is about 400 feet below the Avenaloca Mesa, and apparently the water table is positioned at some point above our parcel. The image below shows the layout of the land. Please click the link to be taken to the American Heritage Dictionary for more information.

At some point in the future, we expect to connect to the municipal water system as well to ensure the continued security of our water supply.
