We've posted updated photos for the puppies that are still available from this litter. As of publication time, all but one our little ones have already gone home with their new families!

Each puppy has been given a call name either by the family that is adopting them or by us. The names are temporary, so that we don't have to call them "number 2" or something equally absurd.

Most of these puppies are being placing with families with a spay/neuter agreement. That means that their registrations are marked "limited" and they are not to be used for breeding. All of the puppies have been receiving the following care:

  • dew claws were removed when they were just 2 days old
  • they've been wormed with Nemex II since they were 2 weeks old
  • their first puppy shots were given at 6 1/2 weeks of age, and their second shots were given at 9 1/2 weeks
  • they have been implanted with AVID microchips

We've separated them from their mother at this point to allow her milk to dry up, and to help them along the process of getting them ready to go to their new homes.

This photo was taken when the puppies were about 4 weeks old. Momma Moni has been weaning them now because they have teeth! All nine are pushing their way into a communal food dish.

Here they're in a big puppy pile in a mini dishpan -- we used it to move them while cleaning the whelping pen.

Moni is a happy new momma. Steve built her insulated whelping pen, and lined it with an easy-to-clean plastic wallboard. The roof has a hinge through the middle so that we can lift it up to look in on the puppies. The whole thing knocks down for storage. We think we probably should have also included a "pig rail" around the bottom edge as well to keep momma from squishing puppies behind her, and will do that before we need to use the pen again.

The flooring we use is a rubber horse stall mat, which we cover with "recycled" comforters that we cut in quarters and re-hem for use in the dog kennels. I'm not sure they care for the plaid pattern, but we know they like to have a soft, clean surface to lay on.

As you can see, a newborn puppy is pretty much all mouth and stomach. Almost everything else on their body is proportionately very small. This photo looks to us like our little guy is an eating machine. Of course, at this age (1 day), all they do is eat and sleep.

All tuckered out after a busy day! This is the day after the big event, when all of them are 1 day old. Tiny stumps still remain where the umbilical cord once connected. As you can see, our "red" sibes look like a nice chocolate color. Daddy is a nice, deep red, though, and we expect them to become colored more like him as they get older.
