Emryld Siberian's Chaka + Tundra Breeding

Our last litter of 2003 (AKC WS069372) arrived 17 December 2003. Mom is our Tundra, and Dad is our Chaka.

This litter has black/white, gray/white, and pure white puppies. Although both parents are blue-eyed, nature can sometimes surprise you. In this case, the litter is made up of 4 bi-eyed and 3 blue-eyed puppies.

Tundra and Chaka are both large Siberians that are close to the top of the standard in size. We expect their offspring to also be larger than average, although we do not expect them to exceed the AKC standard for size.

These are the little ones peeking out of the whelping box at about 4 weeks of age.

Here is the basket full of puppies at 3 days of age..

All of the remaining puppies are being placing with families with a spay/neuter agreement. That means that their registrations are marked "limited" and they are not to be used for breeding. All of the puppies will receive the following care1:

  • they were be wormed with Nemex II beginning when they were 2 weeks old
  • they received their first Heartgard dose at 6 1/2 weeks of age
  • their first puppy shots were given at 6 1/2 weeks of age, and their second shots will be given at 9 1/2 weeks of age if they are still with us at that time
  • each puppy will be implanted with an AVID microchip prior to leaving our care.
  • puppies are released to their new homes starting at 8 weeks of age.

These puppies had an average weight just over 1 lb at birth. There wee no puppies that were obviously smaller or larger in the litter at birth. The birth was easy for Tundra, taking just over three hours for all 7 puppies. She's an excellent mother, and the babies are growing rapidly. They opened eyes just before they were two weeks old, and began walking just before three weeks of age. This litter is a little ahead of schedule, and we think it is because Tundra has them so well fed and cared for. Visitors are welcome by appointment.

1Our puppies usually have their dew claws removed on or about the second day after birth. This time, though, both Steve and Kristyne were down with the flu and were unable to have the dew claws removed within the small window of opportunity that is best for this type of operation. As a result, the puppies in this litter all have their dew claws intact.

Availability

Two of the puppies remain available for placement. They are ready to go home with their families (maybe you?) at any point from now through the next three weeks.
