Emryld's Show Prospect Puppies

We will occasionally place a show prospect puppy with families that are interested in conformation showing. This is done by special arrangement only, and must be done early in the selection process because show prospect picks must be evaluated separately from our pet puppy picks.

AKC Full Registration

Show prospect puppies are placed with a full AKC registration and are not subject to the same spay/neuter requirements as our pet puppies.

If you are new to conformation showing or breeding, we require that we are listed as the co-owner. Once the dog has either been finished as an AKC conformation champion, or two successful breedings have been made in consultation with us, you may request that we remove ourselves from the registration certificate as co-owner.

There is an additional fee required for a show prospect puppy.

Pick Order

Show prospect puppies are taken from the breeder pick(s) in each litter. Not all puppies are determined by us to be show prospect quality. Pet quality puppies in a given litter will not be made available as show prospect puppies for that reason.

Show prospect families have a special obligation to make their selections as early in the process as possible. Once pet families have made their selections from a litter of puppies, we will not allow a show prospect family to select that puppy as their choice. We do not 'bump' pet families from their pick in favor of a show prospect pick, but will instead ask the show family to wait for the next suitable litter.

Things to Consider

We firmly believe pet puppies should be altered at 4 months of age. They are happier and healthier in the long run when they are altered young. Males, especially, will exhibit more family-friendly behavior when they are altered early as they do not tend to mark as much and do not show as much interest in females. We believe pet puppies should always be altered early for these reasons.

If you do choose to keep an unaltered male or female for reasons of conformation showing or breeding, be aware that you are asking for an increased work load with training and monitoring so your Siberian won't wander or mark in search of a mate. These behaviors do not usually go away if you alter the Siberian later on, because by then they will have learned to mark or wander. Altered Siberian males have even been observed mating with females after they've been altered. Alter young, and you will avoid these problems.
